As reproductive labour remains invisible, devalued, and hidden behind the private walls of the home, the second act aims to denounce this situation of extreme inequality by imagining new spaces for such labour. As previously suggested, collective care spaces can be imagined in new additional volumes or in already existing vacant spaces, and can be shared at the neighbourhood or building level. Given that a significant proportion of Milanese apartment buildings are already characterised by such vacant spaces, and that a considerable number of people already employ domestic workers, Act II proposes the reimagining of these spaces as a new system of collectivised and commodified care.

The iconic entryways of bourgeois Milanese homes thus serve as symbolic stages, transforming these purely representational liminal spaces into collective spaces of reproductive labour. Each of the three entrances, selected on the basis of their architectural features and the nature of the spaces they offer, is focused on one specific task of reproductive labour: elderly care, childcare, and laundry. The proposed collective system of care spaces is intended to be based on revaluation and redistribution, with neighbourhood associations providing spaces outside the private home and hiring properly paid professional domestic and care workers. This approach entails the professionalisation of reproductive work, thereby partially liberating the domestic environment from unpaid and unrecognised reproductive labour. Moreover, the project's strategic placement of collective care facilities in spaces that are still widely regarded as representative aims to subvert the prevailing narrative that devalues and obscures domestic work.

The system proposed to maintain the care entrances focuses on recognising reproductive labour as a service and a paid profession that should be collectivised to make it more sustainable and regulated. To achieve this, the residents of the selected residential buildings are to form an association that provides the space and funding to re-adapt the entryways and hire professional care and domestic workers. Both the residents and the hired workers are then free to use the facilities and services offered.

The system is designed to serve those who already employ domestic workers, as sharing certain services would reduce the economic burden on individual families, while also benefiting the employed workers, who would be better protected from abusive working conditions and informal or black-market contracts.

However, although the project focuses only on the more representative entrances in a central and affluent neighbourhood, such facilities could potentially be replicated by those who currently cannot afford paid domestic workers. By sharing the costs of hiring professional domestic workers, and through the further development of government-funded care support policies, collective care spaces have the potential to expand across the city.
